What is Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop?
Section 136 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario reads as follows :
Every driver or street car operator approaching a stop sign at an intersection,
shall stop his or her vehicle or street car at a marked stop line or, if none, then immediately before entering the nearest crosswalk or, if none, then immediately before entering the intersection; and
shall yield the right of way to traffic in the intersection or approaching the intersection on another highway so closely that to proceed would constitute an immediate hazard and, having so yielded the right of way, may proceed.
Also, a ticket for Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop carries with it 3 demerit points and a conviction on your record for 3 years.
What is Red Light - Fail to Stop ?
Section 144(18) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario reads as follow:
Every driver approaching a traffic control signal showing a circular red indication and facing the indication shall stop his or her vehicle and shall not proceed until a green indication is shown.
Also, a ticket for Red Light – Fail to Stop also carries with it 3 demerit points and a conviction on your record for 3 years.
